At Skydemic we follow the syllabus below
Level 1
Paragliding Formation starts at ground and small hills
Phase 1 Ground Training
* Introduction about the sport, risks, health and medical
condictions, clothing and footwear,pilot rating schemes.
* Site and site hazards,airflow and weather.
* Canopy equipment, parts and functions of equipment,
day inspections.
* Avoiding injuries,safety techniques, PLFs parachute landing falls, explained and practised till reach good level
of competence.
Phase 2 Ground Handling
* Pre-flights checks, take off and landings, maintaining airspeed, brakes, flare/stall.
* How to wearing harness, helmet,canopy layout,pre-
flights checks.
* Inflation of canopy, toward and reverse inflation,visual
control, running, collapses when inflating,abort inflation.
* Directional controls,look ahaed, lookout,be alert,turns.
Phase 3 First Small Flights
* Deal with unexpected.
* Commands and communication, signal, radio
* Responsabilty of pilot command in the air, confidence, hability,follow the flight plan.
* Firts flights, maintaining course, airspeed,introducing
gently turns.
Phase 4 Flight exercises
* Completing simple flights plan.
* Practicing till getting gool level of competence.
Phase 5 First Theory examination
Level 1
* Meterology
* Principles of Fly
* Rules of Air and Air law
After approved theoric test, short practical briefing and
talk with Instructor.
note: Student progression is something very personal.Some people reach levels easily than others,but in average all the students will take normally between 5 to 10 days to reach that level of skills.
Level 2
Paragliding formation at hill
note: At that point Student and Instructor will be doing a short briefing about everything they did in the first stage of level 1 pilot formation. Following the natural sequence of the events the student must keep the same level of commitment in order to keeping gaining further knowledge.
Phase 6 - Pre-Soaring
*Theorical refreshing
* Expanding knowledge about site assessment, new hazards , in the site and in the air.
* Weather assessment, Wind strenght, Wind gradient,Venturi effect
* Flight planning,Rules of air, ridge protocols, air flow and ridges, lift bands, patterns, lookout turns, all the time away from the will.
Phase 7 - Soaring ( Dynamic Lift)
* Soaring/lift Flights, consistence, maintaining the lift,
gain height,lookout and alert.
* Top landings
* Flying with others.
Phase 8 - Improving Skills
* Exploring new speed range, hazards of fast and low speed flights, symptons of stall.
* Using accelerator to increase speed, trim System, uses and limitations, strong wind condictions and hazards when using accelerator in those condictions, risks warnings.
* Forward Launching with good level of competence
* Reverse launching with good level of competence.
Weight Shift, Pitch-Roll Control in turn.
* Cross Wind and Slope Landing.
Phase 9 - Instability and Emergencies
* Emergency Situations, Understanding landing at water,trees,fences,low and high electrical lines,PLFs,use of emergency prachute, uses and limitations, alternative
control flight techniques, instability of paraglider, learning about collapses and recovery techniques, paragliding certification, skills requirements for each level of wing.
* Flying Actively,demonstrate good understanding of the concepts of active flying and copping with turbulence,pitch oscillations will be produce and stabilised using radio communication between Student-Instructor.
* Rapid Descent Techniques, Uses and limitations of ears, big-ears, big-ears with accelerator, steering with big ears, understanding B-Stalls,Spirals and full Stalls.
* Dealing with symmetrical Tuck,Understanding,Dealing,practicing and reaching good level of competence. ( those
practices will be performed at safe height.)
* Dealing with B-Stall, Understanding, dealing, practicing
and reaching good level of competence.( those practices will be performed at safe height.)
Phase 10 Final Assessment
Theory Examination Level 2
At that point the student will be sufficient competent in the practical level and now is time to test his Theory
level. Through lectures, discussions and personal study,
the student should be ready to approve the Theoretical
test. which include the follow subjects:
* Metereology
* Principles of Flight
* Rules of Air and Air Law
* General Airmanship Knowledge, Hazards of flying alone,repair and periodic inspections of canopy and
equipment, rating and route to progress to "Pilot" rate.
Final Note
In average ,students will take normally 10 to 20 days to reach that level of competence. Between almost all the phases the student and the instructor will be performing several tandem flights. That type of training will accelerate a lot the general student's ability. We are fully convinced that our method is a great way to teach paragliding. Not because we have a secret way to do it, actually,the way we teach is very simple and forward. With a real commitment anyone can finish the course with an A+ level in paragliding.The course is not Magical! We just follow a well planned route and clear goals.
